Paducah, I Shall Miss You!
I won't be able to attend the AQS show in Paducah, KY this year. But Frieda will be there with Anne Lullie minding the Artfabrik / FrieStyle booth. Look her up in booth 1907 and tell her how much I miss being there.
Instead I'll be off teaching in sunny Massachusetts and visiting my friend Janet Dye. Janet is the person who introduced me to the wonderful world of art quilts. She started it all!
However, my quilt, Nice Neighborhood (above), will be at Paducah. This colorful quilt depicts my neighborhood along the Fox River.
Well, not really.
I am reliably informed by Melody (who taught me all about fusing), that my quilt won a Judges Choice award from Mary Sorensen, a woman of excellent taste. Thanks Mary!
This quilt is now part of the Bloggers Quilt Festival. Check it out!

I love the "Nice Neighborhood" quilt.
I feel for you about missing Paducah. I have spent about ten years trying to go to that show, and it hasn't happened yet! It's always something.
One of the only ways I get to see other's quilts is online, or in magazines. So thanks for posting the picture!
Congrats on the Judge's Choice award! I can see why it won.
I never get to any shows - maybe someday!
I really like the design of the shoreline. It really grabs your attention.
Wow! I am in love with this quilt. I love the colors and how it just flows freely.
Really beautiful....Love the color choice and the placement of your fabrics really brings a sense of movement to your design! Great work!
OUTSTANDING! I absolutely love everything about this piece. So glad you have joined this completely wonderful festival.
That is just beautiful
Laura your such an inspiration! I had so much fun playing with your technique awhile back. Not sure just how you found it posted on my blog, but I was quite touched that you did and took time to post to it! I felt like Queen for a Day! After looking through your blog, I am wanting to challenge myself some more. You sneaky little devil! :-) Thanks so much. I love the challenge.
Congratulations on your win. This one is such beautiful colors. I really love your work.
Beautiful! I love all the movement!! Thanks for sharing :)
I love the quilt. As usual, I wish I could see this up close and in person, as I do all your quilts! The award was surely deserved. Glad you shared it with us on the blogger's quilt festival!
I love your quilt and your story. Your quilt has great color! Thank you for sharing!

I saw this in person at Paducah! It is fantastic and so deserving of the ribbon it was wearing!
We missed you in Paducah.
Wow, it is so pretty. Congrats on getting the award!
