Bristol Cathedral, UK
Imagine laying all this tile and having all the points meet!
Many a quilt maker must be inspired by this beautiful tile work in Bristol Cathedral. I love all the pattern and progression of pattern into pattern. It's enthralling, mesmerizing, hypnotic.
My hostess, Chris Porter, has written quilt books about it and I'm sure there are others of you out there using tile designs as inspiration. Any one?

Isn't that tile beautiful?! I believe Judy Mathieson may have used it as inspiration for one of her quilts -- it might have been called "Bristol Stars" -- I have a recollection of that name in the back of my mind.

Enjoy your travels!

Actually, those tile-layers had it good! With even a tiny amount of grout in between each tile, they have a built in "fudge factor"!

As quilters, we have no such luxury! To copy this as a quilt would take exacting work...every thing would have to meet exactly! Oh, to be a layer of tile, rather than a maker of traditional pieced Quilts! -
