Dotty Details
Here's a detail shot of Leaf Motif, my entry into "Celebrate Spring", an exhibit at the April IQF show. The 3/4" dots build a wonderful pattern across the surface. Please note the addition of an orange center in one of the dots, thus making the prized "stuffed olive motif" we all desire.
The green leaf cut-out in the background is the negative of the fabric square from cutting out the Fuse-Fast leaf shapes. This proves that in fusing, nothing goes to waste. Even the cut away fabrics become design elements.

Dots My Favorite
My favorite design motif is the dot. Large, medium, or small, you can't go wrong with a well placed dot on your quilt top. This quilt, Leaf Motif, has lots of dots. Thus making me very happy.
You too can have lots of dots. Check out the new Fuse-Fast Shapes on the Artfabrik website. The Fuse-Fast Shapes are my hand-dyed fabrics that are pre-fused and cut into shapes like petals, leaves, and a variety of dot sizes. They come with a free background fabric, design ideas for your quilt tops, and some extra free dots to make you happy too.
Do you see the other Fuse-Fast Shape I've used in Leaf Motif? The squares in the background are the negative of the Leaf Shape, the Leaf Cut-out Fuse-Fast Shapes.
You can see Leaf Motif in person at the Celebrate Spring! exhibit in April at the International Quilt Festival in Rosemont, IL.
And dots da truth.

Let the Yodeling Commence
It was such a thrill to present a 2 day workshop, Fusing Fun, to a group of Minnesota quilters this past weekend! Here they are singing a choreographed version of the Chicago School of Fusing Fight Song.
The talented artists made beautiful work and were lots of fun to boot! And I was able to renew my knowledge of the local dialect by talking with some St. Cloud women. It reminded me of my youth spent on the farm in Stearns County.
Ya, sure, ya betcha!

Lady Jane
Meet Ms. Jane Moxey, the producer extraordinaire of my DVD, Laura Wasilowski Teaches You to Create Fused Art Quilts. Jane arrived during a cold snap in early February last year to transform my basement studio into a film studio. She froze her little fingers to the bone while directing a staff of 5 for a marathon day of filming. Jane even managed to get me to sing the Chicago School of Fusing Fight Song 3 times in front of strange men in my basement.
She is fun loving, witty, and one darn good film maker.
Thanks Jane!
