Following is a movie on how to make a French Knot. The actress in this video is not up for an Academy Award but the Foreign Film Societies are sure to give it some sort of recognition. Maybe best short film featuring an embroidery stitch and a fused art quilt?

Thanks Laura. Seeing a technique really helps those of us that are visual thinkers. The clue on pulling the thread slowly is great. That is probably why I never could make French Knots.
Oh, Laura! You are going to have to start shopping for your red carpet dress right now! I can see it now...."and her hair was done up in a lovely french knot" lol! Great video, thx!

Your hands look wonderful for this time of year, especially since you live in the Midwest. Mine look as though they have been "buffed" with a cheese grater. Great tutorial.
Great instructional video.
Clear, concise !
Oh, heck, you done good, Laura.
Gotta Love Those French Knots.

Very clear demonstration. I have read the explanation many times. Seeing it done suggests it really is possible. :)
I guess I am doing them right, lol.
I have to remind myself not to be tight or pull hard, so I get a nice little knot.

Seeing you stitch this French Knot is very helpful! I've done these on the sewing machine but you make me want to give it a whirl by hand! Thanks for sharing this foreign film! I'm completely dumbfounded, however, that you're not nominated for an Academy Award!
This was a good tutorials. Thank you for posting it here...
