GO! Baby Fabric Cutter from AccuQuilt |
With all this talk about the Accuquilt die cutters this week I thought I'd show you another use for die cut shapes: building a tiled collage from the fused shapes.
To make your tiled collage use symetrically cut shapes like the leaves from this die.
The leaf die has lots of possibilities like using them as..... leaves.
But you can also use them to build pattern like this.
Or cut them with a decorative blade and re-arrange the shapes to make this type of design.

A tiled collage using die cut leaf shapes. |
- Place a row of leaves vertically on release paper or a Teflon sheet. Slightly overlap them on the sides to engage the next leaf.
- Fuse-tack that row of leaves into place.
- Add another row horizontally across the first row. These leaves are placed between the leaves in the first row to fill in the gaps. Fuse-tack them into place.
- Continue to add rows. In our example the leaves were slightly tilted on each row toward the center of the collage.
- Make a little Acorn House with the resulting collage.

A Big congrats to Connie.
Thanks for the ideas. I will certainly be looking at shapes with new eyes now. I am wondering what I can do with fused triangles....hmmmmm.
This was such a fun week! I've copied everything to keep and learn from.
I DID use a couple negative spaces from partial funky flower cuts that looked like hearts, so I'm not totally out of the loop. :)
Thx for all the play.
Great ideas! Love the fused shapes and new ways to use them!
Boy that Connie sure is a lucky duck! Congratulations to her!
It's been fun to tune in every day to see what's new with the AccuQuilt shapes. That acorn house is too damn cute.
A sweet idea ... just need the sprite.

I have been following your posts since you visited our guild a couple of years ago (before the time you took a 'blog vacation').:-) I have to say that the workshop I attended changed my way of quilting in a big way.
