Notebook kept for Season Palette quilt.
Monday, when I was talking with Pat Sloan on
American Patchwork and Quilting Radio, she asked if my quilt style had changed recently. In thinking it over I noted that fewer large quilts (over 20" x 20") are being made in the studio. Small, hand embroidered work is the main focus.

But there is one large quilt in the works for me that has been on the design wall for months. It's for the
SAQA Seasonal Palette juried exhibit opening at the
International Quilt Festival in Houston this fall. This giant of a quilt measures about 32" w x 78" h. That's big for me!

Pre-fused scrap fabrics chosen for the Season Palette quilt too. Do not store your fused fabrics like this!
One of the requirements after acceptance in this exhibit is to document the process of creating the work including inspiration, design, techniques, etc. Here are few images of the beginnings of this quilt. The season I was given is Spring. Yipee!

If your fused fabrics do get wrinkled, iron them flat on a Teflon sheet.
Let's hope I get it done in time. Wish me luck!

GO! GO! GO! GO! I know you can do it. You won't disappoint all your fans out here.
I am wishing you luck! I can't wait to see what you make. I am sure it will be fabulous.
You'll do it...may mean some late nights but you'll do it!
I know what you mean about large. I'm happier with stuff less than 27" x 27", which eliminates some competitions (until I get really brave!) But you're a Seasoned Pro, Laura. You can do this! :-)
I can't wait to see what you make and something larger from you.

Go Luara, go Laura!!
How'd you decide on the size? Just curious.
It took me time to read all the tips, but I clearly loved the post.
It proved to be very helpful to me and I’m certain to all of the commenters here!
Thanks
