How to Store Fused Fabrics....Ha!

Often I'm asked, "Laura, you look like a well organized person, how do you store your fused fabrics?" And in an authoritative voice I say:
1. Store small scraps in baggies by colorway.  They are easy to transport and make you look organized like me.
2. Stack medium size fabrics neatly with out any folds on a tray or in a box. Why stack them? You don't have to iron them out later and appear disorganized (which I am not).
3. For really large fabrics leave the release paper on the fabric and roll the fabric up for storage.  Now we all look organized!
4. But this is the reality. You could say it is a matter of "do as I say, not as I do." As you can see my method of storing fused fabric is lets say....not very neat. It seems in the middle of creating art, I'm a little messy and cram fabrics into plastic boxes just to get them out of the way.

But I'm cramming them in an organized manner.

Just attended your lecture, Art Quilter, The Musical, last evening at the Gold Coast Quilters Guild meeting in Boca Raton, FL. Laughed so hard that my stomach aches. Looking forward to your Tiny Homes workshop this morning.

I just don't have enough space to be as organized as I want to be. I could kick my kids out of the house a bit early so I can use their space, but that wouldn't be very nice. I guess I just have to do the best that I can for now.

I have some quilts that I want to practice fusing with, just need to finish up one more obligation.

Ha ha. That last picture looked just like my method (and the plastic box is always too small for the amount of fusible jammed into it).

hahaha! love your crammed organized mess. It's fun when you go back through it again much later and find another project to make! I started keeping my fused scraps in bags by project - as I finish a project I cram the scraps into baggies for later before I rethink it!
Have really been enjoying your recent posts. All of your bright happy stitching makes me smile.

Yes...storing those fused fabrics can get messy.I'll use bags too- sounds a good idea. It's hard not to get messy in mid creating. That's just how it goes,as you have to spread out those fabrics to fund the right colour .

I think if it's off the table and off the floor and within reach somewhere, anywhere, well... that's as organized as I'll ever be.
