How to Stamp Out Your Fabric

Kay's Bouquets #15 by Laura Wasilowski
I am about to reveal information about my secret pleasure. Ready? I like to carve stamps.Supposedly these hand carved stamps are created to print fabric. But secretly I like to carve them just cause I like to carve them.
Stamps carved with Safety Kut.
The stamps are carved using a sharp craft knife and a product similar to an eraser called Safety Kut. They range in size from 1" square up to 8" square and my collection numbers in the hundreds. At one time stamp carving was an obsession of mine. But I'm better now.

Want to learn more about how I carve the stamps and print fabric with them? Just tune into The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims today and you'll see the process. It's the premier of the show and I can hardly wait to see how goofy I look on screen this time. You'll want to see it to!

Watched the show early this morning with my coffee. It was great and a lot of fun! A lot of good info, too. I am already plotting which of the wonderful dyed threads I want and how I will use them.

Just watched your episode on The Quilt Show! I love the embroidery on your quilts. You have inspired me to get back into handwork on my quilts!

I have wanted to carve my own stamps but have never had time, so I just buy them :( . I'll try to watch the show.

I watched it and enjoyed it. I wish you had talked more about the paints - do you heat set them? Is there a particular type of paint (I know you said water based)
