It's Day 4 here at the Felt Along and I've finally made a beak for the little felt bird. It's cut in a triangular shape with rounded edges and measures about 1/2" long. Never having had a beak, I'm not sure if this is a good shape or size but the bird is not complaining.
His beak is stitched onto the blue background fabric using the ubiquitous Blanket Stitch. Again the Wisteria thread in a Size 8 is just the right size to keep his beak in place and lend an air of sophistication.
Now that the little bird can see and speak, it's time to add a few details for decorations. First are French Knots and and a subtle Running Stitch for his wings.
Then I add even more luscious French Knots for his belly dots. One can never have enough belly dots. The Size 5 Asters thread used in the Blanket Stitch for his body spices up the design with lots of color.
Please return for tomorrow's Felt Along episode when our little bird gets a perm!

This has been great fun for me - as I'm never quite sure where to start.
Love the fact that you give approx. size of pieces.
Thanks,

I am going to have to do this adorable bird. I found my felt and now I have to catch up.
The french knots are a wonderful touch.
