Getting a Kick Out of Quilts!

Arbor Day (detail) by Laura Wasilowski

Are you familiar with the nine-part  "Why Quilts Matter" video series found on PBS? It doesn't talk about how to make quilts but it does discuss the role of quilts in American culture. It relates quilts to history, politics, and the empowerment of women. I like that empowerment stuff. Politics I can do without!

Now the producers are trying to make a Continuing the Conversation Guide or book to help stimulate conversation about quilts. They liken it to a book club. To do this they are raising money on Kickstarter, a fundraising site, to bring this project to life. (Donations can be as small as $5 and each donation is tied to a reward, so you get something in return. Yes! a reward!)

Have you seen Why Quilts Matter? Maybe you would like to contribute to the Continuing the Conversation Guide. I did. Just click here for more information.
