Inspired by Nature

Making a set of flowers for your next fused art quilt? Flower shapes don't have to be complex concoctions. See the structure of these flowers on a Dogwood tree? There are only 4 petals. How simple can you get?

Here's another 4 petal flower. True the hand stitching makes them fancy. But even a simple flower can get gussied up sometimes. So go ahead, gussy something up! Mother Nature doesn't care!

Bbbbbut,bbbut...but...I remember that commercial "it's not nice to fool with Mother Nature!" and then a lightning strike.
Are you sure she won't mind? I am allergic to lightning strikes!

Flowers are a great way to play with embellishments.

Wow...I've never seen dogwood flowers with points on the edge of the petals...very different.

I'm finding that many of the petal shapes on flowers are either simple shapes or could be made simple. The real fun appears to be in embellishing them.

Love those petals. I enjoyed taking class yesterday and starting to stitch on my flowers. I am going to finish this little piece. I have sooo many ideas I want to try now.
Thanks so much for all the great inspiration!
